Shelter Island

A few weeks ago my sister and I took a day trip to Shelter Island and it was everything we hoped it would be. It was quaint and charming, nature felt so close and pure.

The day started on the ferry from Sag Harbor and although we were met with rain, it gave the island a magical, romantic feel. So off we went determined to see what we could. We huddled together among the mist and walked along the historic streets admiring the architecture and the local stores, where one in particular grabbed our attention.

As the rain got a little heavier we sought refuge in a cute little shop on Bridge Street called Pure Soul. Owner Sylma Cabrera greeted us with a warm smile as we browsed around. The first thing that struck me was the beautiful merchandising. Every detail in the presentation was immaculate and vibrant. I must have looked at everything twice over. From the custom hangers to the color scheme and lighting, I was inspired at every turn. The products themselves were super unique and ranged from home goods to gorgeous kaftans and an array of adorable wine accessories. There really is something for everyone and every occasion.

One more sweet surprise was the beautiful pond in the back of the store. You can just imagine Sylma on breaks sitting there with a cup of coffee under the warm sun. If you ever find yourself in Shelter Island, you must swing by this gem. You’ll be blessed to meet the sweet soul that is Sylma and maybe walk away with a chic new outfit or wine accessories all your friends will be talking about.
